►Brief Description
The HeartStart FR3 Defibrillator (FR3) is a compact, lightweight, battery-powered, automated external defibrillator designed for use by trained emergency personnel to treat patients with suspected ventricular fibrillation (VF), the most common cause of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and certain ventricular tachycardias (VT).
The FR3 has a ready light that flashes to indicate the FR3 has passed its last self-test and is ready for use. The front panel of the FR3 has an on/off button on the top and a shock button on the bottom.
The FR3 comes with an FR3 primary (non-rechargeable) clinical battery, but an optional FR3 rechargeable battery is also available. The FR3 rechargeable battery is intended for use by organizations that use the FR3 frequently and want to reduce costs per use and environmental waste (such as EMS or fire departments). Rechargeable batteries should only be used by organizations that are committed to providing the resources necessary to implement a battery maintenance program. Because the performance characteristics of rechargeable batteries change over time, a battery maintenance program should monitor the number of charge/discharge cycles the batteries undergo to determine when they should be discarded.
